Watch the racists pretend like they can’t read all of a sudden

Couldn’t believe it so I found a source, it’s real

Man, I can’t imagine a black person getting away with this but it’s legal

clarknokent

Yup. So all those people that were like “just comply even if you did nothing wrong”, hell no! They shouldn’t be arresting you if you did nothing wrong. Especially how rough some of these cops are. More people knowing about this will cut down on these power hungry bad cops.

Reblogging again for quotes;

“Story affirmed the right of self-defense by persons held illegally. In his own writings, he had admitted that ‘a situation could arise in which the checks-and-balances principle ceased to work and the various branches of government concurred in a gross usurpation.’ There would be no usual remedy by changing the law or passing an amendment to the Constitution, should the oppressed party be a minority.

“Story concluded, ‘If there be any remedy at all … it is a remedy never provided for by human institutions.’ That was the ‘ultimate right of all human beings in extreme cases to resist oppression, and to apply force against ruinous injustice.’” (From Mutiny on the Amistad by Howard Jones, Oxford University Press, 1987, an account of the reading of the decision in the case by Justice Joseph Story of the Supreme Court.)

“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

“As a practical matter one should try to avoid relying on the above in an actual confrontation with law enforcement agents, who are likely not to know or care about any of it. Some recent courts have refused to follow these principles, and grand juries, controlled by prosecutors, have refused to indict officers who killed innocent people claiming the subject “resisted” or “looked like he might have a gun”. Once dedicated to “protect and serve”, far too many law enforcement officers have become brutal, lawless occupying military forces.“

we should treat love as something to be built rather than found

pottedfairies

when we treat love as something sacred and rare, we miss opportunities to critically engage with it or even explore different types of love. when we treat love as sacred and something to be found, we are implying that the relationship and construction of love is perfect from its inception. that prevents open dialogue and transfer of ideas and definitions of what relationships are and what is desired from them

when we treat love as something to be built, we allow for the opportunity to love anyone we meet and the threat of finding The One fades. when we treat love as something to be built, we allow for nuance in any and all our relationships and for those relationships to hold more weight on our lives. when we treat love as something to be built, it becomes a communal act, rather than something we do alone

pink label congo collection by hanifa

I find this whole concept so fascinating. First it was begun before the whole quarantine. Second it was made by a black woman and the invisible model itself is curvy as fuck. Completely going against what a model is supposed to be "a walking clothes hanger", which would have been perfect for a virtual model but she went completely against that idea.

Watch it as fashion company completely rips her off and use invisible model with unreasonable body proportions to promote their product and do not forget who started it all.

blackboyjoy

I encourage y’all to go watch the whole video. It’s really dope. She talks about raising awareness about things like conflict materials in the Congo but she wants to provide another narrative for the country as well. She wants to show the beauty that can come from the Congo too.

I hate how feminism has become so commodified and soaked in bourgeois individualism. I don't give a fuck about one woman being empowered by something, I want the big picture. The idea that any action is inherently feminist is fucking stupid, too--"Lots of women do this thing, so clearly it's feminist and supports women! Nothing beyond that!" you have articles about SWEATSHOPS being feminist because a lot of women work in them. Exploitation isn't empowerment, and the bare minimum is not something to celebrate! God.
